When we reject God’s grace and mercy, all that is left is God’s judgment. In Daniel 5, King Belshazzar was partying when he should have been praying. A “man’s hand appeared and wrote… on the plaster of the wall.” The writing was on the wall. He was about to fall. The hand of God wrote the words, “MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN,” which meant… -God has numbered your kingdom and finished it. -You have been weighed in the balances and found wanting. -Your kingdom has been divided and given to the Medes and Persians. Why was the writing on the wall bad news? Because Belshazzar did not humble his heart. He was defiant in the face of God, and the outcome was death. There comes the point in life when we each must choose, will we reject God’s grace and mercy or accept it. Join Abundant Life as we explore Daniel 5. Our prayer is that many will be humbled and not hardened by pride. Pride comes before the fall, and God will crash the party of those who are filled with it.
