The Thessalonians were known for their “irresistible holiness.” First Thessalonians 4:7 says, “For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.” To be holy means to be set apart, separated for a purpose. God calls us to be separated from sexual immorality to pursue lives that are holy.
HOLINESS
“…but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy.’”—1 Peter 1:15-16
HOW DOES GOD’S WORD DEFINE SEXUAL IMMORALITY?
Sexual immorality is defined as any sexual activity outside of marriage between a man and a woman.
“Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.”—Hebrews 13:4
“And He answered and said to them, ‘Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning “made them male and female.”’”—Matthew 19:4
God does not consider something morally acceptable just because it feels natural to you. Sin comes naturally to us all! (See Romans 3:23)
