Welcome. Below you will find details on what our preschoolers learned at church for this date. In case you are not able to bring your child to one of our campus locations, this is written for you to do church at home with your kids. This can also be used for those that are able to attend in person to recap what your kids learned or to just listen to their favorite songs that they hear at church. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.
Here is a snapshot of the week:
Bible Story Focus: Jesus can help me choose love. (We Love Because God Loves Us • 1 John 4:9-13)
Memory Verse: “I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13, NLT
Key Question: Who can help you do everything?
Bottom Line: Jesus can help me do everything.
Bible Story and Worship
Watch the Bible Story Video with your kids so you can recap and discuss it with them in the “Bring Jesus To Their Level” section. Then join your kids in worship as we sing and dance for God.
Next, use the Memory Verse video to practice our monthly verse. We will practice this verse all month. Be sure to use the hand motions as it helps the kids to remember. Also, think of a fun reward you can give them at the end of the month when they are able to say it all by themselves. The activity sheet and coloring page are fun resources to help reinforce story and/or big idea.
Bring Jesus To Their Level
Follow the following script to recap the story, practice the memory verse and demonstrate to your young children how to pray. (You’ll make a list with your family to pray over so have a pen a paper ready.)
Say: “In our Bible story, today, we learned that God loves us so much, He gave us Jesus to be our friend forever. And when Jesus is your friend forever, He can help you do everything! Who can help you do everything? (Together.) [Bottom Line] Jesus can help me do everything!
“He sure can! And the Bible verse we’re going to learn will help us remember that Jesus can help us do everything. It says . . . ‘I can (thumbs to chest) do everything (march) through Christ (point up), who gives me strength,’ (muscle arms) Philippians 4:13.” (Open hands like a book.) (Practice this verse several times with your kids.)
“Wow! You sound fantastic! (Give two thumbs-up.)
““Today, we’ll make a list of people we can love because one of the things Jesus can help us do is choose love. Then when we pray, we can ask God to help us love others the way He loves us. (Make a list of who each family member says. Don’t forget yourself.)
“Now we have our list. Would anyone like to pray before I pray?” (Give each family member who wants to pray the opportunity to do so.)
Prayer: “Dear God, thank You for loving us so much that You gave us Jesus to be our friend forever. Thank You that Jesus can help us do everything—like choose love. Please help [child’s name] choose to love [name they listed]. Help [family member’s name] choose to love [name they listed] . . . (continue with each family member.) We want to love others the way You love us. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
As we wrap up, I would like to leave you with one of the kids’ favorite ‘good-bye’ songs:
Let Me See Your Alligator
Thank you for the opportunity to partner with you in the discipleship of your kid(s). My prayers are with you.
