Has your child, or someone else’s, ever said something so profound that you could only stare on in amazement? The best part, they weren’t even trying to be profound. Kids tell it like they see it without worrying what other people will think. This has gotten my kids into trouble a time or two but then there are those moments when their simple observation have me thinking, “How did I not get that?”

As adults, we can often make things too complicated, or we overthink them. But kids have a way of cutting through all the nonsense and being able to see the heart of what something is and should be. King Josiah started his reign when he was eight. Even at that young age, he knew to seek after God. Then when he found the Book of the Law, he did not keep it for himself. He knew it must be shared with everyone.

Here is a snapshot of what we will show the kids this week:
Bible Story Focus: I can tell others about God’s way. (Josiah (Young King) • 2 Chronicles 34)
Memory Verse: “God’s way is perfect.” 2 Samuel 22:31, NIrV
Key Question: Whose way is perfect?
Bottom Line: God’s way is perfect.

Bible Story & Worship
Watch the Bible Story Video with your kids so you can recap and discuss it with them in the “Bring Jesus To Their Level” section. Then join your kids in worship as we sing and dance for God.

Activities
Next, use the Memory Verse video to practice our monthly verse. This is our last week to practice the memory verse. Be sure to get something to reward your child with next week when they say it all by themselves. Hopefully, they already are since it was fairly simple but we want to build up the anticipation so they will want to practice it even more. Practicing over and over, even when they seem to know it, will help it to stick for more than just this month. The activity sheet and coloring page are fun resources to help reinforce story and/or big idea.

Bring Jesus To Their Level
Finish up your church at home by recapping the story and practicing the memory again. Then say: “Our Bible story, today, was about a young king named Josiah. King Josiah did a very brave thing. Even though he was a young king, he told everyone in his kingdom that they should go God’s way. King Josiah told the people that [Bottom Line] God’s way is perfect. So today, we will make a list of people we can tell that [Bottom Line] God’s way is perfect.(Have each family member list something).

“Thank you for making this list with me. Let’s pray and ask God to help us by brave and tell others to go God’s way. Would anyone like to pray before I pray?” (Give your children an opportunity to pray if they want to).

PRAYER: “Dear God, thank You for teaching us that Your way is perfect. Help us be brave like King Josiah and tell (read the list your family made) that Your way is perfect, because it’s true! [Bottom Line] God’s way is perfect! We love You, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

As we wrap up, I would like to leave you with one of the kids’ favorite ‘good-bye’ songs:
Let Me See Your Alligator

Thank you for the opportunity to partner with you in the discipleship of your kid(s). My prayers are with you.

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Proverbs 22:6
