Last month, we worked with our kids to help them see that Jesus loves them. No matter who they are or what they have done, Jesus loves them, wants to spend time with them, and wants to help them. This is foundational, not just for our kids, but for each of us.
When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, it is like He turns on a big Jesus light in each of us. Understanding that we are loved no matter what, is the first step. The next step is to allow that light, that big Jesus light, to shine from each of us for the world to see. The best way to shine that light for Jesus is to love others the way Jesus loves us. When we do not, then it’s like we are hiding our light. So, let us think about how we can love like Jesus and let our light shine for the whole world, for our neighbors, even for a stranger.
Here is a snapshot of what we will show the kids this week:
Bible Story Focus: When you love like Jesus, you will be a light. (Light of the World • Matthew 5:14-16)
Memory Verse: “Love each other as I have loved you.” John 15:12,
NIV
Key Question: Who can love like Jesus?
Bottom Line: I can love like Jesus.
Bible Story & Worship
Watch the Bible Story Video with your kids so you can recap and discuss it with them in the “Bring Jesus To Their Level” section. Then join your kids in worship as we sing about loving like Jesus and loving one another.

Activities
Next, use the Memory Verse video to practice our monthly verse. We will practice this verse all month. Be sure to use the hand motions as it helps the kids to remember. Also, think of a fun reward you can give them at the end of the month when they are able to say it all by themselves. The activity sheet and coloring page are fun resources to help reinforce story and/or big idea.

Bring Jesus To Their Level
Finish up your church at home by recapping the story and practicing the memory again. Then say: “When we love like Jesus, we shine like a light. Everyone sees the love! That’s why we’re going to make a list of ways we can love like Jesus. Then, when we pray, we can ask God to help us love like Jesus.” (Have each family member list a way they can love like Jesus. You will use the list when you pray.)
PRAYER: “Dear God, thank You for sending Jesus to teach us how to love each other. Sometimes it’s hard, but we know Jesus is with us and will help us love like He loves. Help us love others by (read the your family made). We want to be a shining light of love everywhere we go. We love You, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
As we wrap up, I would like to leave you with one of the kids’ favorite ‘good-bye’ songs:
Let Me See Your Alligator
Thank you for the opportunity to partner with you in the discipleship of your kid(s). My prayers are with you.
“O that there such a heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children forever!”
