Have you ever had something in your life that needed to be “moved” and then, all of a sudden, it all just worked out? Or it worked out even better than you ever could have hoped? Or, maybe, it just never seemed to work out at all? None of those are coincidences. God is powerful and His timing is perfect. It may not look like we expect but we must trust that an all-knowing God probably knows more than we do.

I’m sure the Israelites did not expect Pharaoh’s army to come after them. After all they went through to be set free and then he changed his mind. What!? The great thing is that it did not surprise God. And while it would have been easier for the Israelites to not be chased, God showed His power by splitting the Red Sea so they could walk to safety. God’s power is awesome!

Here is a snapshot of what we will show the kids this week:
Bible Story Focus: God’s power is awesome! (Moses and the Sea • Exodus 13:17-18; 14)
Memory Verse: “Great is our Lord and mighty in power.” Psalm 147:5, NIV
Key Question: Who is powerful?
Bottom Line: God is powerful.

Bible Story & Worship
Watch the Bible Story Video with your kids so you can recap and discuss it with them in the “Bring Jesus To Their Level” section. Then join your kids in worship as we sing and dance for God.

Worship – Super Wonderful

Activities
Next, use the Memory Verse video to practice our monthly verse. We will practice this verse all month. Be sure to use the hand motions as it helps the kids to remember. Also, think of a fun reward you can give them at the end of the month when they are able to say it all by themselves. The activity sheet and coloring page are fun resources to help reinforce story and/or big idea.

Bring Jesus To Their Level
Finish up your church at home by recapping the story and practicing the memory again. Then say: “Our Bible story, today, was about a lot of water. And I mean A LOT of water—way too much to swim across. But it wasn’t too much for God’s power. No way! God’s power is awesome!

“When Moses and all of the people needed to get to the other side of the sea, what did God do? (Pause) You’re right! God parted the water and made a dry path for Moses and the people to walk on. They were saved because God’s awesome power parted the water!

“And I have the perfect Bible verse for us to learn to help us remember that [Bottom Line] God is powerful. It says . . . ‘Great is our Lord and mighty in power,’ Psalm 147:5. (Practice this verse several times with your kids)

“Today, we’ll make a list of things that live in water, since God parted a sea. It can be fish, a turtle, starfish . . . anything that lives in water. (Have each family member list something)

“You are super-smart to think of so many wonderful things that live in water. Let’s use this list when we pray. Would anyone like to pray before I pray?” (Give your kid(s) an opportunity to pray if they want to)

PRAYER: “Dear God, Your power is so amazing. You parted a sea so Moses and the people could walk on dry land. Not only did Your power part the sea, but You made the sea and everything that lives in water like (read the list your family made). God, You truly are amazing! Thank You for loving us. We love You, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

As we wrap up, I would like to leave you with one of the kids’ favorite ‘good-bye’ songs:
Let Me See Your Alligator

Thank you for the opportunity to partner with you in the discipleship of your kid(s). My prayers are with you.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

Jeremiah 1:5
