Elementary, September 20: Solomon Builds the Temple

Hi Journey Kids parents!

Isn’t it amazing that God has always wanted to live among His people? He did it in the Garden of Eden and in the Tabernacle and, this week, we’re diving into the incredible story of His commission to King Solomon to build a Temple. As glorious as the Temple was, though, it was destroyed. The presence of God no longer resides there. Now, He resides in the hearts of His people. Isn’t that incredible?

When it’s time to begin, start your morning of family worship by watching the short lesson video with your kids. [You can access the videos here.] It’s a great way to engage spiritually with your family. After the lesson is over, choose a worship song from the playlist to sing with your kids!

Here is a snapshot of the lesson details for this week:

Bible Story: Solomon builds the Temple

Big Idea: The Holy Spirit lives within the Church, so we should make meeting together our #1 priority.

Memory Verse: “And because you belong to him, you too are being built together. You are being made into a house where God lives through his Spirit.” Eph. 2:22 (NIrV)

After the video lesson and music, you can use the attached materials to help take your family deeper into the lesson:

If you are a Christian, that means you are a part of His Temple. But not on your own. We are God’s Temple together. That’s why being a part of a church matters. We need one another to be all that God intended for us to be. I’m so grateful that you are here and are participating in this incredible call.
