Elementary, September 12: Jacob and Esau

Hi Journey Kids parents!

Jacob and Esau had a complicated relationship from the womb. Theirs was a constant back and forth. Esau experienced a lot of seemingly unfairness – but it was all a part of God’s plan for him and for Jacob.

When it’s time to begin, start your morning of family worship by watching the short lesson video with your kids. [You can access the videos here.] It’s a great way to engage spiritually with your family.

Here is a snapshot of the lesson details for this week:

Bible Story: Jacob and Esau

Big Idea: God has a plan for my life, so I can trust Him even when something unfair happens.

Memory Verse: “’I know the plans I have for you,’ announces the Lord. ‘I want you to enjoy success. I do not plan to harm you. I will give you hope for the years to come.’” Jeremiah 29:11 (NIrV)

After the video lesson and music, you can use the attached materials to help take your family deeper into the lesson:

Life is often unfair. That’s what we tell our kids, right? But we can struggle to accept that ourselves. But God has a purpose and a plan for you even when things are unfair. I hope you rest in that this week.
