Elementary, January 16: Jesus is Tempted in the Desert

Hi Journey Kids parents! I think it’s easy to imagine that Jesus never struggled with temptation the way we struggle with temptation. He was and is, after all, God! But the Bible tells us that He was tempted in every way we are tempted – but He never succumbed to it. I know this might sound crazy – but we don’t have to succumb to it either. God promises that there will always be a way out when we’re tempted to rebel against what He says is best for our lives. When it’s time to begin, start your morning of family worship by watching the short lesson video with your kids. [You can access the videos here.] It’s a great way to engage spiritually with your family. Here is a snapshot of the lesson details for this week: Bible Story: Jesus is Tempted in the Desert Big Idea: Jesus said “no” to sin, and so can we. Memory Verse: “You are tempted in the same way all other human beings are. God is faithful. He will not let you be tempted any more than you can take. But when you are tempted, God will give you a way out so that you can stand up under it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIrV) After the video lesson and music, you can use the attached materials to help take your family deeper into the lesson: I don’t know what temptations you’re facing. I do know that God offers everything you need to say “no” to sin. He always provides a way out. Take it, friend.
