Elementary, February 14: Blind Bartimaeus

Hi Journey Kids parents!

Jesus did a lot of incredible miracles and we are going to be talking about one of them today as we kick off our new series that counts down to Easter.  As Jesus was preparing to leave Jericho, a man named Bartimaeus called out to him. Bartimaeus was blind, but he knew who Jesus was because he yelled “Son of David, have mercy on me!” When Jesus asked the blind man what he wanted, he responded “Rabbi, I want to be able to see.” Jesus told the man that his faith had healed him, and he was suddenly able to see! How awesome is that?

When it’s time to begin, start your morning of family worship by watching the short Journey Today Show video with your kids. [You can access it here.] It’s a great way to engage spiritually with your family.

Here is a snapshot of the lesson details for this week:

Bible Story: I Can See (Blind Bartimaeus) • Mark 10: 46-52

Big Idea: Life in Jesus is for Everyone

Memory Verse: Jesus stopped and said, “Call for him.” So they called out to the blind man, “Cheer up! Get up on your feet! Jesus is calling for you.” Mark 10:49 (NIrV)

After the video lesson, you can use the attached materials to help take your family deeper into the lesson:

As you complete the activities, I want you to know Life in Jesus is for everyone and like Blind Bart, we can call out to Jesus, ask Him to heal us, and choose to follow Him and then we are a part of God’s kingdom and get to be with God forever. That really is the greatest thing any of us could ever ask for.
